Vacationing in the Outer Banks this summer? Then you must pay this restaurant a visit! Overlooking Currituck Sound from the boardwalk in Waterfront Shops, The Blue Point offers visitors and locals the best of North Carolina’s seafood, changing its menu seasonally and providing the most personal service — a true example of Southern hospitality!
Despite the humid and stormy Sunday afternoon, our night was off to a great start when our Uber pulled up to the driveway. A hanging disco ball, a roof signed by riders, glow-in-the-dark seat covers and, most importantly, our fun and perky driver, made the ride an enjoyable one. We arrived at the restaurant early and were escorted to the back bar to wait for our table — I enjoyed a refreshing and delicious Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail while we waited.
In between wine, laughs and great stories, there was the food — oh, the food! We opted to share our appetizers and went with the warmed deviled crab dip. You know what’s coming, right? It was devilishly delicious! Creamy, cheesy and just spicy enough, the dip was served with a thinly sliced warm baguette and paired with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc.
For my entrée, I followed our server’s recommendation and chose the pork chop. The picture does not do this dish any justice; juicy, perfectly marked and grilled to a medium temperature, this bone-in pork chop was served with a Cheerwine glaze atop a barbecue-spiced southern slaw and smoked peanuts with a side of the best baked macaroni & cheese I have ever had. This dish was tasty, fragrant and well executed.
For dessert, I stuck to the fruity patterns and gave the tangy, homemade strawberry ice cream a try and, God, was that good! I have not written about a positive dining experience in a few months, but this definitely inspired me to make pork chops as soon as we arrived back home (not nearly as good, though great inspiration nonetheless!).
Whether you’re staying or just driving by the Outer Banks this summer, you will not be disappointed if you make a detour to Duck’s boardwalk.

Apr 22, 2024Meet 5 Women Shaping the Brixen/South Tyrol Travel Experience
Although a destination’s terrain, cuisine and cultural attributes always draw travelers in, it is often the people they meet that make the trip an enduring memory rather than a box to be checked off. It’s a job responsibility that people working around the Plose and adjoining town of Brixen (in Italy’s Trentino-Alto Adige region) take seriously. This is even more true for five women dedicated to introducing visitors to new aspects of the time-honored ski, leisure and hiking mountain destination in the Dolomites.

Apr 17, 2024Mindfulness City in Kingdom of Bhutan Unveiled as Future Economic Hub
In front of an audience of 30,000 Kingdom of Bhutan residents and officials, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck presented his vision for a new economic hub in Bhutan. Located between India to the south and China to the north, Bhutan is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Bhutan came late to global tourism. It opened its borders to international visitors in 1974 and, while tourism definitely increased, residents are enduring “light” rush-hour traffic in Thimphu, its capital city, as the only Asian capital without traffic lights.
