We here at GT have been feverishly working on our July issue, which is our annual Global City Guidebook. I love this edition because every page profiles a different destination. This quick guide gives ideas about what to do and where to stay and dine in cities around the globe.

The only problem with this is how to condense the best of any city into a single page. The writers have their work cut out for them with this one. They have to limit themselves to just three hotels, restaurants and attractions, choosing from a multitude of options.

I personally love to see which attractions the writers feature, and I’m always happy to read about places for people with varied interests. For example, (here’s a little sneak peek) the Atlanta city guide offers up the Atlanta Beltline, Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. So there’s something for the bicyclist, sports fan or history buff. I hope the reader will be enticed to travel to one of these places and then do further research into what else in that city matches their interests. And I envision them picking one of the three restaurants for a delicious dinner, but maybe on the way there they stumble across some little hole-in-the-wall place that may be their adventure for breakfast or lunch the next day.

When I travel, I like to do research and have things planned out, some with reservations, but leave some days open for just winging it. Hopefully, these city guides help readers get started planning their next trip.

One of the World’s Largest Brâncuși Exhibitions Opens this September in Timișoara, Romania

Works of art signed by Constantin Brâncuşi, often called Romania’s best-known artist, takes place Sept. 30–Jan. 28, 2024 at National Art Museum Timișoara under exceptional security conditions. The art pieces will be transported to this Romanian city under guard, and the costs associated with the exhibition are expected to exceed $2.1 million. Out of that sum, approximately half will go toward the museum, which will host the event, while the other half will cover the exhibition itself. Timisoara was selected as a 2023 European Capital of Culture, and the exhibition will be one of the city’s major cultural events during the year.
