Last week Global Traveler’s advertising and editorial coordinator and eFlyer editor, Monique Barrett, and I attended an event in New York City celebrating the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Held at restaurant and event space Celsius, adjacent to Bryant Park’s skating rink, the event introduced the resort’s seasonal Pink Rink.
Now through Jan. 1, 2014, the Boca Raton Resort & Club houses an ice-skating rink (85 feet by 40 feet) on its Croquet Lawn. The rink is kept cool under a large tent and is open daily. Guests can participate in open skating, take group lessons, participate in theme nights, watch holiday and professional performances and celebrate their children’s birthday parties on the ice. The property’s Surf School teamed up with Australian surfwear company Billabong to offer private classes and clinics daily. Participation in classes with the Surf School also includes a Billabong rash guard, customized online video, emailed photo and use of a rental surfboard.
On a chilly Thursday night, we snacked on passed hors d’oeuvres and sipped hot chocolate while watching performances by ice skaters wearing beach gear and carrying surfboards. It was a fun night that made me long for the warm, sunny Florida weather. I hope to visit the Boca Raton Resort & Club on my next trip to Florida.
