Music, Barbecue and History in Nashville

Nov 27, 2015

So many people had shared great stories from trips to Nashville that it quickly moved up my list of must-visit destinations. Last week, I finally had the opportunity to visit Music City, and I can certainly understand the appeal. I also highly recommend the city to anyone looking to explore a new, bustling domestic destination with mass appeal. Trust the more than 90 people per day relocating to Nashville. NashvilleHonkyTonk Nashville is about music and songwriters. To get a taste of the tunes, check out a songwriter round-up, where songwriters share their stories and sing many of the hit songs they’ve created. The Bluebird offers just such an experience. Make your way to the honky-tonks along Broadway for drinks and live music, and be sure to visit the historic Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame for more behind the music. Nashville Nashville is about barbecue. For mouthwatering delights, I can personally recommend Edley’s, Peg Leg Porker or Martin’s Bar-B-Que. Sample the food with local brews from Tennessee Brew Works and Black Abbey Brewing Company. PegLegNashville Nashville is about innovative gourmet cuisine. Check out 5th and Taylor for the Sunday dinner favorites of Chef Daniel Lindley; Chauhan Ale & Masala House, helmed by Chopped judge Maneet Chauhan; or the classic stand-by, Capitol Grille, at The Hermitage Hotel. (The onion bisque is a MUST.) NashvilleTheater There are so many more dimensions to Nashville: It’s about history; it’s about a number of different musical genres; it’s about craft distilleries; the list goes on. I look forward to sharing more about my experiences here, in the magazine and on our sister publication, trazeetravel.com. Stay tuned! — Kim Krol, managing editor/vice president
