Moving Day

As if the year wasn’t flying by already, I can’t believe the time has come. My boyfriend and I have planned to move out of New York City for the past year and, in two weeks, that plan will become a reality.

While this city will always be dear to our hearts — we met and started our life together here — I am excited and nervous to start a new chapter in our lives in a different place. The unknown is scary, and even more so when you are leaving your comfort zone; however, we all know that without change, growth and development cannot take place.

Although we are ahead of the game and have packed more than half of our current two-bedroom apartment in the city, this process has been stressful and, for someone who struggles with minor anxiety like me, not so much fun. From scheduling and renting a truck, finding a storage unit, transferring jobs, setting up new accounts, updating mailing addresses, etc., this could feel like a lot. You know what they say: If you do not plan ahead, you plan to fail.

Earlier this year on trazeetravel.com, Nia Scott introduced some of us to PackPoint — an app that helps business and leisure travelers create packing checklists based on the destination, purpose and duration of the trip. I mean, how cool is that? I love checklists (I tend to go through at least two per day) and cannot stress enough how important they are. Following the concept of the app, my boyfriend made a “Big Move” checklist to help us keep track of all of the things that need to get done before we actually move. This helped us tremendously in this process and, honestly, kept us cool, calm and collected.

Now I’m curious to hear about your moving experiences. Did you love it? Do you have any tips for us?

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips. From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Most unique to the island is its lack of vehicles. People on the island get around on mules and donkeys as well as water taxis, making for a peaceful and laid-back day. Hydra lies a two-hour ferry ride from Piraeus port in Athens.

What Maui Visitors Need to Know

There’s a lot happening on the beautiful island of Maui and recovery from the devastating fires in Lahaina is underway. Among happy events is a gorgeous cultural redesign of all the suites and villas at Fairmont Kea Lani, plus the opening of the resort’s Hale Kukuna — a 2,000-square-foot cultural center that focuses on sharing Hawai’ian culture, traditions and history, with the goal of a reciprocal sharing of ‘ike (knowledge) and mo’olelo (stories) that link the island’s storied past and vibrant present.
