Keeping It Local

by Katie Skrzek

Apr 7, 2022

My husband and I have several busy weekends coming up with a bridal shower, the Easter holiday, our niece’s birthday and two weddings. Ahead of the hectic next month, we have spent more time at home and around our neighborhood.

pastriesWe recently met some friends for dinner at The Pub, a popular South Jersey steakhouse. My husband and I hadn’t been to the retro steakhouse since 2019, so we were happy to return for great food and drinks. Our group enjoyed the ambiance and even witnessed a proposal at the table next to us!

One Saturday morning, my husband and I decided to have an indulgent, pastry-filled breakfast at home, with decadent baked goods from one of our favorite local bakeries, Dulce. We bought a variety of their scratch-made pastries. For me, the standouts were the ham and cheese croissant and the Dulce pop tarts. We had plenty of leftovers to enjoy the next few days to extend our indulgent dining.

Our recent obsession is visiting escape rooms. Though late to the trend, we went to our first one earlier this year and immediately got hooked. There is one within walking distance of our house, Exit 4 Private Escape Rooms. It boasts four rooms, and we’ve completed each, escaping before the allotted time all four times. Unfortunately, the location doesn’t have plans to update those rooms in the near future, so we will need to find another place to feed our obsession.

I enjoyed the time at home as a much-needed reset between a busy winter and upcoming busy spring. I’m looking forward to time with family and friends, celebrating holidays and life events!
