You may be reading this title and think, “I am DONE with stillness, DONE with being locked down and DONE with COVID.” Don’t kid yourself, I am, too, but I have found ways to appreciate the time we have been given to slow down.

Before COVID, most of my weekend was spent running errands, hitting the gym, date nights with my fiancé and our friends and seeing my parents. Things obviously changed quite a bit; restaurants remain somewhat closed (outdoor dining only), gyms are closed, and our date nights changed into having friends over (one couple at a time) for dinner al fresco on our deck. My exercise routine also changed, and it’s turned into long walks with my pup, which I have come to really enjoy.

One of my favorite spots (and I think Prince loves it, too) is Linwood Park, located just a few blocks from my house (pictured here). It’s a community park, and those who maintain it volunteer to do so. There’s a neighborhood book drop and magazine rack, along with a beautiful, lush park for everyone to enjoy. It’s become my “happy” place where I go for a moment of zen after a busy day. There is always a friendly face to greet you, and should you want to stop and chat, there’s a neighbor or two always willing to oblige. It’s made me really appreciate what a tight-knit community I live in and why I’m so happy I chose to make Ardmore, Pennsylvania, home.

Our world has changed, and for me, it’s helped me see the benefit of taking a break and enjoying the moment with family, friends and a new way of living life.
