Plan your spring visit to Knoxville for May, and enjoy the annual Biscuit Festival. From May 14–16, flours will be blooming as the competition gets underway with a host of biscuit-related events: biscuit songwriting, a biscuit boutique with (yes) biscuit-themed fashion, and a biscuit art competition at the Emporium Center Gallery (May 1–31). During the Biscuit Bazaar, open from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. on May 16, booths touting the latest and most popular “biscuit compatible” products will be offered by vendors.
A festival highlight is the announcement of the title winner for Miss or Mr. Biscuit. Contestants are judged in the areas of biscuit making fashion, poise and biscuit-related talent. There’s also a biscuit baking contest and outdoor Blackberry Farm Biscuit Brunch featuring the best regional dishes, prepared by the chefs from Blackberry Farm. If that’s not enough in the way of entertainment, a full line-up of musical performers — including Subtle Clutch, Grits & Soul and Jimmy Brown Johnson and the Band of Awesome — will provide background.
