COMO Shambhala Estate recently unveiled its renovated accommodations and wellness center. Set on 22 acres in Bali, at a jungle clearing of the convergence of two rivers, the award-winning retreat is known for its unique wellness offerings.
COMO Shambhala Estate refreshed two of its five signature residences, Bayugita Residence and Wanakasa Residence. Renovations draw inspiration from the natural surroundings.
“The Estate’s location resonates differently to any other place I know,” said Christina Ong, founder, COMO Group. “It has a healing heritage that’s been here for thousands of years, revolving around the sacred spring and the energy of the flowing river. All I needed to do was honor that knowledge, working with designers and architects — including Cheong Yew Kwan, who still lives on site — who know and respect the energy lines already in place.”
New wellness offerings include a space dedicated to Ayurveda treatments, contrast therapy suites, hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments and hydrotherapy pool with Watsu bodywork treatments. Complimentary, daily wellness experiences available to all guests include sunrise yoga, jungle stretch classes and Balinese purification rituals.
In honor of the renovations, the retreat offers guests a new series of one- or two-day wellness programs structured to target specific wellness goals. Guests looking for a more in-depth experience may opt for one of the new COMO Shambhala Signature Retreats. Led by the property’s resident wellness practitioners, these six-night immersive journeys offer a blend of activities, nourishing cuisine, workshops and wellness treatments.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
