Switzerland’s Swissport is opening its first Aspire Lounge in Australia next year in the Perth Airport. The lounge will accommodate up to 140 guests and will open mid-2020.

The aviation services company will open the lounge on T1 International’s third level. The space will have a panoramic view of the airfield and the city skyline and connect to the international departures area, close to the boarding gates.

The lounge will serve seasonal food and drink options using small, local suppliers to give the menu a Western Australia bent. The menus will offer several vegetarian and vegan choices, too.

Access will be on a pay-by-use basis and passengers can pre-book lounge tickets online for a three-hour stay. Swissport will announce a range of loyalty or airline affiliations in early 2020, which will grant some travelers free access.

“These pay-per-use lounges are becoming more popular at international airports both interstate and around the world,” said Kevin Brown, CEO, Perth Airport. “International travelers from Perth Airport have never had this option but the wait will be more than worth it. We believe this will be the best lounge of its type in Australia.”

He added, “The Aspire lounge will be another piece of the puzzle falling into place as we build an upgraded international terminal and bring all flight services into the T1 precinct by 2025.”
