The theme is Swiss Alpine Chic at the newly opened Nello Alpine at the base of Aspen Mountain in Aspen, Colo. Located next to the Residences at the Little Nell, the restaurant is the project of chef Nello Balan and features a menu of dishes inspired by his European heritage, such as truffle soup and Osso Bucco al Bosco with veal shank and mountain mushrooms. A special Trails menu is available at the bar, and showcases the tastiest offerings from the world’s mountain regions.

The décor combines original works of art; local elements such as the flamed oak bar, leather banquettes and cowhide benches; and glittering glass and crystal — including two Swarovski crystal chandeliers from Holland. There’s a cozy, heated terrace overlooking the surrounding peaks and a bar featuring a cocktail program with classics including the Hot Toddy and Old Fashionista with bespoke concoctions including The Nello Royal, with Louis XIII cognac, Grand Marnier Cent Cinquantenaire and demerara sugar; and the Black Rose Caviar, with Black Rose liqueur, Rose’s water, rose bitter, coffee liqueur and spiced rum.
