American Airlines is changing the air travel game with the introduction of its new premium-economy class. The airline is the first to introduce the premium service on its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner international flights.
Travelers can enjoy a range of luxury services including more legroom; wider, adjustable leather seats; extendable foot, leg and head rests; amenity kits; noise-reducing headphones; enhanced meal services with complimentary wine, beer and spirits; personal on-demand entertainment and larger monitors; AC power outlets and USB ports at every seat; and one free checked bag.
Andrew Nocella, chief marketing officer, American Airlines, said, “Travelers want more choice when they fly and have unique preferences depending on each trip. Our customers tell us they want a class of service between Business Class and Main Cabin, and this feedback provided the genesis for our new Premium Economy service.”
Seats won’t be available in premium economy until early 2017, but travelers may be able to experience the new service on flights between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and São Paulo (GRU) starting Nov. 3, Madrid (MAD) starting Nov. 4, Paris (CDG) starting Jan. 9, 2017, and Seoul (ICN) starting Feb. 16, 2017. Until the service is available for sale, fees will be based on AAdvantage member status. Platinum and Executive Platinum members enjoy complimentary access, and Gold members pay 50 percent of the fee or receive complimentary access within 24 hours.
