Flight attendants for American Airlines expressed their displeasure over the carrier’s new uniforms; now, months later, the company’s pilots are doing the same.

Thousands of flight attendants were up in arms after some claimed to have allergic reactions to the material, ranging from hives to respiratory issues. Now, more than 100 American Airlines pilots are making similar claims. The pilots union will look into the issue.

“We’ve had pilots that are beginning to report the same reactions as our flight attendants,” Dennis Tajer, spokesman, Allied Pilots Association, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “We had about 100 reports but we’re getting indications that there are more out there.”

Garment manufacturer Twin Hill says testing showed the clothing’s chemicals are below levels that would affect the wearer. Still, thousands of crew reported problems.

Despite the claims, American declined to recall the uniforms, but did give staff options for polyester or cotton fabrics.

“Whatever they find in their survey, we’re happy to meet and discuss it with them,” Ron Defeo, spokesman, American Airlines Group Inc., told Bloomberg News.
