Great News for Wine Lovers
Alaska Airlines expanded to 29 the number of West Coast airports where Mileage Plan members can check a case (12 bottles) of wine for free. Domestic flights on Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air and Skywest flights from the cities listed below are included. Virgin America flights won’t be included until May 2018.

Washington: Bellingham (BLI), Pasco (PSC), Pullman (PUW), Seattle (SEA), Spokane (GEG), Walla Walla (ALW), Wenatchee (EAT) and Yakima (YKM)

Oregon: Eugene (EUG), Medford (MFR), Portland (PDX) and Redmond (RDM)

Idaho: Boise (BOI) and Lewiston (LWS)

California: Burbank (BUR), Fresno (FAT), Los Angeles (LAX), Monterey (MRY), Oakland (OAK), Ontario (ONT), Orange County (SNA), Palm Springs (PSP), Sacramento (SMF), San Diego (SAN), San Francisco (SFO), San Jose (SJC), San Luis Obispo (SBP), Santa Barbara (SBA) and Sonoma (STS)

In addition to allowing passengers to check a case of wine for free, Alaska’s Wine Flies Free program has another valuable perk: Many wineries in Idaho, Oregon and Washington waive wine-tasting fees for those who show an Alaska Airlines boarding pass. In Washington, Hertz rental car waives its drop-off fee to allow travelers to pick up a car in one city, travel through wine country tasting, buy wine and drop the car off in another city.

Delta, United Tighten Rules for Emotional Support Animals
In response to a significant uptick in the number and types of animals passengers now take on airplanes as emotional support animals — and because so many people may abuse the programs in order to take their pets on flights for free — both Delta Air Lines and United Airlines are revising the documentation travelers need to provide in order to take these animals on planes. New rules go into effect March 1, 2018. Delta’s new rules cover both service animals and emotional support animals. United’s policies tighten the rules for emotional support animals. Expect other airlines to follow suit.

TSA Adds Five Carriers to PreCheck Program
The Transportation Security Administration added five domestic and international carriers to the list of airlines that participate in the TSA PreCheck program: Air France, Brussels Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Philippine Airlines and World Atlantic. That brings the total number of participating airlines to 47.

The Bishop’s Lodge’s Bunkhouse: A Rustic, Historic Getaway

Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a small town that’s big on historic landmarks, buildings, parks and Western lore. Many of its most fascinating structures also happen to be hotels, including Bishop’s Lodge, which extends the city’s specific charms from the streets into the public areas and private suites and rooms. While most of the properties within historic buildings are upscale, Bishop’s Lodge is now a member of Auberge Resorts Collection thanks to a painstaking restoration, luxury appointments, commitment to personal service and wide range of exclusive activities.
