Aeromexico flight 2431 crashed in Durango, Mexico, with 103 people onboard, Tuesday, July 31. According to airline and state officials, the Aeromexico flight went into rapid descent minutes after take off from Guadalupe Victoria International Airport enroute to Mexico City from Durango. According to state officials, strong winds and a growing storm caused the accident.

According to authorities, 85 people were injured with various levels of severity. No fatalities were reported.

As flight 2341 took off, the plane’s left wing touched ground on the runway, causing the twin-engine jet to lose both engines almost immediately. The plane then crash-landed and skated off the runway, skidding to a halt in nearly another 1,000 feet.

Of the 103 passengers onboard, 49 were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, 36 for more serious, but all are expected to live.

According to officials, all Aeromexico crewmembers and passengers were evacuated from the plane using the emergency evacuation slides before the aircraft was engulfed in flames.
