Ever since I first tracked gorillas in Uganda, I knew I had to see the elusive orangutan in its natural habitat. The itinerary begins in Los Angeles, where guests fly directly to Hawai’i to explore marine preserves and sandy beaches. Then it’s off to French Polynesia to snorkel and visit a vanilla plantation. In Tasmania, helicopter tours will whisk guests away to regions known for wildlife and history. Then, in Borneo, wildlife photographers lead travelers on a search for orangutans in the wild. Helicopters circle Mount Everest in Bhutan and Nepal. Later, guests head to Armenia for cognac tastings and ballet performances, then Iceland, before finally heading back to New York.
