Summer travelers anxious about airport crowds consult data-driven forecasts released by major travel organizations, preparing for the best and worst days to pass through America’s airports.
Compared with last summer, approximately 9 million more travelers take to the skies for summer vacations for an estimated total of 246.1 million travelers June 1–Aug. 31.
It’s a common conception traveling on Thursdays is less hectic than traveling on Fridays or weekend days, but predictions show the three busiest days at airports will be the three Thursdays after July 4: July 5, 12 and 19.
To prepare for the influx of up to 2.68 million daily passengers, airports beefed up staff by adding 1,000 additional security officers and 50 extra dog teams to keep security scanning times to a minimum.
