Air Canada equipped its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER planes with high-quality streaming WiFi and plans to do the same for its entire fleet of wide-bodied 777-200LR, 787-8, 787-9, Airbus A330 and 767-300ER aircraft.
Air Canada says it has taken the first step in doing so, and it’s updating its website as the fleet is outfitted. Currently, the site says all 19 of its 777-300ER are now equipped, along with one of its six 777-200LRs.
The carrier claims it’s the first Canadian airline offering “the ability to stream TV and movies in-flight through the internet.”
“Air Canada customers on international wide-body flights will have access to the fastest internet service available on any Canadian carrier. Air Canada WiFi will make travelling more enjoyable whether you’re connecting with family and friends, watching a favourite movie or TV programme on the internet, or scrolling through your social media feeds,” said Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines, Air Canada.
“The speed and reliability of Air Canada WiFi will also make it an excellent productivity tool for business travellers, who will be able to keep in touch and work during their journey so they can stay up-to-date and arrive fully prepared for any meeting or event.”
