New on the cycling tour scene, Australia-based Bike Odyssey launches their brand of adventure with the 29-day Che: Bariloche to Santiago tour, planned for Nov. 17–Dec. 18, 2018. The 1,461-mile route is divided into two 14-day phases, and plays on the path from Brazil to Peru traversed via motorcycle by then-medical student Che Guevara and his friend biochemist Alberto Granado in 1952, documented in Guevara’s memoir The Motorcycle Diaries (Verso Books, 1995). Highlights of the route’s Stage 1 portion include a ferry excursion through the lake district of Nahuel Huapi National Park in Argentina, crossing the Andes mountain range, traversing Alerce Andino National Park and passing the Volcan Villarica.

During the second phase, participants will visit — and have an opportunity to swim in — the Salto Los Indios waterfall, visit the beach and rock structure at Piedra de la Iglesia, pedal through the rock formations and witness the seven waterfalls at Reserva Nacional Radal Siete Tazas, plus visit the Chilean port city of Valparaiso, enjoy the scenery through the Casablanca Valley Wine Region and finally wind up in Santiago. Dine in top regional restaurants and, at night, rest in National Park lodges and design hotels along the coast of the Pacific that include Valle Corralco Hotel & Spa, Hotel Surazo and Hotel Antumalal in Patagonia. Prices begin at $6,486, per stage, or $12,637 for the complete route.
