Lounge membership company Priority Pass reached a milestone of opening its 1,000th lounge worldwide. It’s been on a tear lately, adding 130 lounges around the world in the last 12 months.
The company has seen a great deal of growth in the Asia Pacific region, with 32 lounges joining this year, including 11 new lounges in China. Other openings spread across Indonesia, Taiwan, Myanmar, Cambodia, New Zealand and Australia.
Priority Pass partnerships in Europe, the Middle East and Africa include 69 new lounges: 47 in Europe, 12 in Africa and 10 in the Middle East. An additional 31 lounges have come on board in Russia, including openings in Moscow, Vladivostok and Novosibirsk.
Priority Pass started in 1992 as a way for frequent flyers to access independent airport lounges worldwide. The idea is travelers can access lounges without being premium ticketholders; instead, Priority Pass offers three different membership levels to appeal to different types of travelers. Other companies offer similar services, but Priority Pass boasts “more lounges, in more cities, in more countries than any other program.”
