Delta to Switch to Zac Posen-Designed Uniforms

Delta Air Lines unveiled its new uniform collection last month. Its designed by heralded New York fashion guru Zac Posen incorporated ideas from Delta’s own employees in the design. The company’s more than 60,000 frontline employees, a group that includes customer service agents, flight attendants, ramp agents and technicians, will wear the new look.

Delta on its website described the uniform collection as a “contemporary line (that) fuses together bold color palettes and classic styles, while paying homage to the heritage and iconic design from decades past to elevate the look and brand of Delta employees.”

“The world’s best employees deserve the best uniforms and this new collection is classically influenced, yet modern,” Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta Air Lines, said in a statement. “Zac and the Delta team worked closely with our people to create timeless and fashionable pieces that reflect the thoughtful and innovative spirit of Delta … It was clear early on that Zac embodied the innovative design sense, passion and hands-on involvement to create for our employees and our brand a uniform that truly sets Delta apart.”

Don’t expect to see the new duds right away. The roll out will begin in early 2017, with 1,000 employees “wear-testing” the uniforms. Then, adjustments will be made based on employee feedback before the final versions are rolled out worldwide. That is expected to happen in early 2018.

Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
