As Heathrow Airport continues to look to expand, representatives announced they are ready to begin expansion plans once they receive government approval. The expansion would create 180,000 new jobs and 10,000 apprenticeships, boosting the U.K. economy by an estimated £211 billion.
Heathrow Airport secured four partners to assist with the expansion, by providing resources to ensure high standards are reached over the entire process.
“I’m delighted that our client partners are now on board and I look forward to working with them to give the United Kingdom a truly world-class, sustainable hub airport,” said Ian Ballentine, director of procurement, Heathrow Airport. “This privately financed, £16 billion project will benefit the whole United Kingdom as we work to widen the supply chain right across the nation.”
