Making its debut during Clerkenwell Design Week, the splashy, new Carl Hansen & Son showroom in London’s Clerkenwell neighborhood offers three floors of Danish design and classic, fine quality Scandinavian furniture. Located in an historic building that belonged to James Johnstone, former owner of the Morning Herald and Evening Standard newspapers, the showroom also includes gallery space and an entire level with a collection by cabinetmakers Rud. Rasmussen. The brand, founded in Copenhagen in 1869 by Rudolph Rasmussen, has been part of Carl Hansen & Son since late 2011.

Available design pieces include Hans J. Wegner’s signature Wishbone Chair, Ole Wanscher’s Colonial Chair and Frits Henningsen’s Heritage Chair. From Rud. Rasmussen, Denmark’s oldest cabinet-making workshop, choices include Kaare Klint’s Faaborg Chair, the Mogens Koch Bookcase System, and the Professor Desk by Poul Kjaerholms. The London showroom joins Carl Hansen & Son’s exclusive collection of retail locations in Denmark, Norway, Milan, New York, Los Angles, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
