Cathay Pacific plans to discontinue service to Moscow (DME) this summer. The carrier’s thrice-weekly service between Hong Kong (HKG) and the Russian capital will cease operations from June 1. Passengers booked on flights after this date are offered alternative arrangements. “High operating costs have made it difficult to operate profitably on the route while the number of passengers travelling between Hong Kong and Russia has been declining,” said the airline in a statement. Cathay will remain committed to continue expanding in Europe, however, with recently launched service to Manchester (MAN) and plans to commence flights to Zürich (ZRH) and Düsseldorf (DUS) from March 29 and Sept. 1, respectively.
