British Columbia’s arts temperature begins to climb in June, with the 25th season of Bard on the Beach kicking off on June 12. Until Sept. 14, enjoy theater beneath performance tents at Kitsilano’s Vanier Park, along with lectures, wine tastings and special ticket packages that include the Bard-B-Q and Fireworks.
From June 21–Sept. 2, Klahowya Village in Stanley Park will showcase First Nations music, art, dance, cuisine, craft demonstrations and a Story Telling Circle led by elders sharing legends and tales. From June 21–July 1, the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival — with headliners including the David Murray Group and Herbie Hancock — takes place in venues throughout the city. Later this summer on Aug. 4, the vibrant Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival brings music and dance to the streets in a celebration that draws more than 650,000 annual visitors.
