Arrival/Check-in: Following a long trans-Pacific flight, I was eager to sleep when my flight landed shortly after midnight. I zipped through Customs and found the hotel’s driver waiting. We were in the car and on our way quickly. A complimentary airport transfer is one of many perks included in a stay at the Quincy. Check-in was as seamless as my ride from the airport. (28/30)
Guest Quarters: The boutique hotel offers 108 studio guestrooms, all with a modern décor. First on my to-do list was a hot shower. I quickly deposited my bags and was thankful for the large shower and rain showerhead. The bathroom had a separate tub and ample counter space — one of the most important features in a hotel bathroom. The traditional Molton Brown toiletries seemed a slight departure from the property’s sleek, modern vibe. I enjoyed a good night’s sleep in the king-sized bed. There was plenty of additional seating around the room, as well as workspace and a 42-inch LCD TV. One of the biggest perks? The complimentary Internet access. All the rooms face Singapore’s popular Orchard Road, so the view, even though the day was hazy, was pleasing. Motorized blackout curtains blocked all distractions from sneaking in through the wall-length windows and allowed for a peaceful rest. (27/30)
Services/Amenities: A number of amenities are included in a guest’s stay at the Quincy. Aside from the airport transfer and free WiFi, a reservation also includes complimentary meals, cocktails from 6–8 p.m., minibar items and in-room snacks, two pieces of laundry per room night, all-day coffee and tea and a limitless supply of bottled water.
I took advantage of the complimentary breakfast buffet in the hotel lobby. While it wasn’t overwhelming, the food selection was generous and quite good. It was nice to grab a soft drink or bottle of water from the in-room refrigerator while I was working without considering the cost. I was disappointed I didn’t visit the fitness center and 12th-floor pool, but while chatting with other guests, I heard both were fantastic. Orchard Road is a short stroll from the property. (38/40)
The Experience: Even though I only experienced the Quincy for one night, my visit was comfortable; and all the added amenities made the stay stress-free. Quincy is a hotel I would certainly recommend to friends, family and fellow travelers.

“We are on small, tiny rocks, isolated in the middle of the largest ocean.” On a nature tour on the atoll of Tetiaroa, my naturalist guide, Thierry Sommers, thus reminded me of the oceanic remoteness of our location in the South Pacific. I was staying at The Brando, a luxurious private island resort that sits a mere 30-minute flight from the main island of Tahiti but still feels gloriously far away from regular civilization.
