Arrival/Check-in: I was traveling to Atlanta with a colleague, and we arrived early in the morning for meetings. Between appointments we decided to check in and have a quick bite at the hotel’s restaurant. We pulled up to the front of the hotel, where a few words and a nice tip kept my car parked outside and ready for our swift exit to afternoon meetings. The bellman’s curse – rolling luggage – meant we needed no assistance. We were swiftly given keys and went to our rooms before lunch to check a few emails.(26/30)
Guest Quarters: My smartly appointed room was comfortable, with updated colonial-style furnishings. A hallway led to the bedroom and a king bed flanked by two night tables. An entertainment center was on the opposite wall. I immediately turned on the television to follow the news while I settled in at the workstation: a cherry-wood desk and comfortable chair. As the staff at Global Traveler can attest, I like to stretch out and put my feet up while composing emails and working on my laptop. I was able to do this in the hotel. (28/30)
Services/Amenities: I met two of my colleagues for lunch at the restaurant, Au Pied de Cochon, with its uniquely French look and feel and Continental Cuisine. The XO Bar has America’s largest collection of cognacs, again adding to the French flavor. We had a quick, enjoyable lunch at Au Pied de Cochon and, when the day was done, cocktails at XO. I was in need of the business center and was pleased to see a fully functioning facility on the main level, where I printed reports and boarding passes. At the end of the day, I self-parked, which made the next morning convenient. (39/40)
The Experience: The InterContinental Hotels Group is very proud of this hotel and it was sorely needed, as the chain’s North American headquarters is in Atlanta. Global Traveler readers are fond of the brand and its loyalty program, Priority Club Rewards, having voted PCR best loyalty program for six years. I think readers will enjoy the property as much as I did.
