Guests staying at one of Four Seasons’ luxury properties across Africa and the Indian Ocean have the unique opportunity to embark on one of its curated safaris and island journeys. The collection’s new experiences feature both land and water activities so guests can experience the destination’s wild and marine life in a new way.
Four Seasons Resort Seychelles
Located in the secluded area of Petite Anse Bay on the coast of Mahé, Seychelles’ largest island, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles offers travelers a unique way to experience the island. Guests are invited to join WiseOceans’ marine biologists on snorkel tours of the reef to see local marine life like pufferfish, tangs, angel fish, sea turtles and even a whale shark. After exploring the ocean, head to Coral Cabana to learn more about the resort’s marine conservation efforts. Guests get an inside look at the pioneering coral lines Petite Anse Reef Restoration Project and have the chance to string and plant a line of coral in the nursery themselves. While in Mahé, stay in one of the treehouse villas and enjoy private pools and panoramic views of the beautiful waters below.
Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island
Just a 35-minute flight from Mahé, Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island sits on its own private island, and has more than 900 acres of untouched nature to explore. Guests can expect encounters with giant Aldabra tortoises as they roam the grounds or catch sights of rays and sea turtles swimming along the shores. Wildlife experiences include humpback whale watching adventures with Blue Safari; and visiting the Tortoise Sanctuary with George, Philly and Big Pete, the island’s famed giant Aldabra tortoises. The resort also has a tortoise adoption program where travelers can play a role in supporting efforts to protect this endangered species.
Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita
Situated between a beautiful turquoise lagoon and stunning Bambou mountain, Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita is a playground for nature lovers. With surrounding waters home to a unique and rare endangered seahorse species, guests have the chance to join Rick-Ernest Bonnier, Resort Ocean Environment manager, to learn more about the Seahorse Conservation Project. Guests can join snorkeling trips along the resort’s mangroves where they can help collect vital data about the seahorses. Guests who don’t want to get in the water can join Rick’s daily nature walks to learn about Mauritius’ endemic trees, plants and colorful wildlife.
Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Serengeti
In the heart of Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, sits Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti. This resort offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to encounter Africa’s most iconic wildlife in their natural habitat. Rangers take guests on game drives for the chance to encounter the Big Five up close and witness the Great Migration. Take a sunrise hot-air balloon safari over the majestic savannah and finish the morning with a Champagne breakfast in the bush. Other activities include walking safaris to see local birds, flowers and animals; and visiting Ngorongoro Crater Safari, the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera, which offers some of the best game-viewing experiences and a chance to spot the black rhino. Book the hotel’s new photography-led safaris to help capture memories and unique souvenirs to take with you.
Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg
Guests staying at Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg, have the unique opportunity to combine city exploration with safari to explore all of Southern Africa’s great wonders. May 27, 2025Plan a Legendary Gathering in Honolulu
Myths and origin stories form a powerful framework for the history of Hawai‘i. Marking the horizon behind Honolulu, the ancient volcanic formation of Lē‘ahi — technically a volcanic tuff cone more commonly known to the world as Diamond Head — provides a constant physical reminder of the tales that shaped the history of this location. While researching legends for my Hawai‘i-based Dark Paradise Mysteries series (Kensington Books), I learned the tale of the demigod Maui, who used his enchanted fishing hook to reach into the sea to heave the Hawaiian islands, including Diamond Head, above the surface of the water.
