The German capital harbors a unique history, having witnessed some of the key moments of the 20th century and split in two in the aftermath of World War II. Divisions between the old East and West Berlin remain visible today, with the elegant buildings of Charlottenburg, the upscale heart of the former West, a stark contrast to the wide boulevards and Stalinist-style towers in the old East.
Renowned for its creativity, fashion and music, the city boasts a dynamism that reflects the hallmark of young and growing metropolises. Time Out voted Berlin the top European city in its list of best world cities to visit in 2024, coming in third globally. It’s the largest city in Germany, with great road, rail and air connections to Europe and the rest of the world, making it a great destination for MICE travel.

It also boasts a well-developed offering for the sector, thanks in part to Berlin Convention Office, part of the city tourism board, Visit Berlin. Founded in 2001, the office offers support for those interested in organizing MICE events in the city and the surrounding area.
Classic choices for events include 5-star The Ritz-Carlton at Potsdamer Platz in the center of the city, offering a number of meeting rooms with capacity for up to 1,500 guests. Incidentally, the hotel, known for its excellent standards of service, hosted the fourth annual World MICE Awards Gala Ceremony in March 2024. Nearby Grand Hyatt Berlin can host events with up to 850 attendees and offers a dedicated business center. After a long day, guests can visit the spa with a rooftop terrace overlooking the city.
Other strong choices include The Mandala Hotel, which can handle meetings of up to 300 people and offers discreet access to its facilities direct from the underground parking garage, and the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Berlin in Charlottenburg, where facilities include a ballroom and an open-air event terrace. Regent Berlin sits on scenic Gendarmenmarkt square in Mitte in the center of the city and boasts 10 meeting suites.
Recent developments in the MICE space include last year’s opening of JW Marriott Hotel Berlin near Tiergarten, a huge park covering 520 acres. Taking over the former Maritim Hotel, JW Marriott’s first hotel in the city offers 48 different event spaces, including the largest ballroom in Berlin, with capacity for 2,300 guests.

Other recent openings include The Hoxton, Charlottenburg near Ku’Damm, offering the chic Apartment with three different-sized meeting rooms for more intimate events, as well as Sly Berlin, accommodating up to 90 attendees for MICE events. The hotel comprises five interconnected buildings, including a large greenhouse, and features a sauna on the roof terrace.
Another relatively new addition, Hotel Telegraphenamt Berlin opened in the former main telegraph office on Museum Island following a 10-year renovation process. The hotel features two event spaces with a striking post-industrial aesthetic.
With an incredible array of venues and amazing travel connections, Berlin proves the perfect spot to host your next event. Attendees will find plenty to keep them entertained during their downtime, too, whether their interests lean toward history, art or music.
UNIQUE VENUES
Looking to make your event stand out from the crowd? Berlin offers a number of unique venues that will live long in the memory.
First up is Berlin TV Tower, a major landmark with an observation deck 666 feet in the air. The platform can host events with up to 200 guests, and attendees will enjoy a changing view of the city, as the platform rotates through 360 degrees every hour.
Perhaps a dinosaur would make an impression. Plan an event at Museum of Natural History, and attendees can marvel at the brachiosaurus brancai, which stands at a height of more than 42 feet — the world’s largest dinosaur skeleton. The open-plan dinosaur hall lends itself to all sorts of events, from panel discussions to formal dinners and receptions … a truly unforget-
table evening.
Alternatively, head east of the city to Hoppegarten Racecourse, the oldest sports facility in Berlin, built 150 years ago. It’s a fabulous natural setting to host an event.
