In the heart of a vast private estate with carefully restored gardens, seaside woodlands, rugged cliffs and secret beaches, a former Spanish island hideout for European celebrities reemerged as a sustainable and luxurious holiday destination.
Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, a 100-acre resort set amid a large estate on the island of Mallorca’s northeast coastline, will officially reopen next March following a major restoration.
With sustainable practices at the core of the property’s restoration effort, all 110 guestrooms and suites now have terraces facing the sea, and some also offer private plunge pools. Décor of both private and public spaces is bright and airy, with natural materials evoking a seaside glamour that is both nostalgic and very modern.
Native plantings of fragrant flowers are now growing among towering pine groves, allowing for walking paths, exotic garden settings for weddings and other events, and quiet spaces for guests looking for more private surroundings.
“With our legacy of reviving legendary hotels with a respectful approach to modernization, we are very pleased to add this resort (formerly the Hotel Formentor) to our portfolio of historic European properties that have been restored and enhanced as a new Four Seasons experience,” said Rainer Stampfer, president, Global Operations, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

In addition to its renovations, the resort offers some special experiences. Its concierge team put together a group of unique experiences and one-of-a-kind excursions guided by local experts in their fields.
The full-day Enchanting Tramuntana mountain tour takes guests through rustic villages like quiet Valldemossa, cliffside Sa Foradada, the artistic enclave of Deia and a Carthusian monastery. The same region can also be explored from the vantage point of the sea to discover remote beaches, including a hidden gem of a coastal restaurant for a sea-fresh lunch to remember. Four Seasons also devised a full-day trip across the waters to the Balearic Island of Menorca, where guests will find both small villages and pristine beaches.
For younger guests, Kids For All Seasons is a complimentary, fully supervised program for children with activities encouraging creativity, learning and a whole lot of fun. Next year, a dedicated teen center will also open, inviting young adults for games, activities and socializing.
The culinary experience at Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor begins with multiple on-site dining options overseen by Executive Chef Francesco Mannelli. Mel restaurant offers a farm-and-sea Mediterranean menu for breakfast and dinner. Quiosc is an open kitchen and terrace shaded by pines by one of the resort pools while, on the beach, Xiringuito offers drinks and light bites. In the evening, guests gather at the round bar at Cercle, where bartenders shake up inventive cocktails, and oenophiles will love the on-site winery and working vineyard.
For a full-day experience, the Ancient Finca Discovery tour takes guests to a private finca (Spanish farm) to learn about Mediterranean agricultural techniques and the extensive estate’s habitat regeneration program. A hands-on cooking class at sunset in a 13th-century stone house sees everyone pitching in to prepare a rustic meal before a local astronomer guides a magical stargazing session.

Shima, a sophisticated Nikkei-style dining experience, debuts in 2025, as will Sospir, offering freshly baked pastries and Crocant’s ice cream parlor. A new full-service spa will also open in 2025 when Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor opens for the summer season.
With a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from, including an all-new ballroom, several meeting rooms, the Na Blanca gardens and two outdoor terraces, Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor is an excellent choice for a corporate retreat and a dream setting for a destination wedding.

May 28, 2025Williamsburg Inn Review
You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.
