The new Spa at Tryall Club is set among lush hills and the Caribbean Sea in Sandy Bay, Jamaica. Located on the northwestern coast of the island, The Tryall Club is 20 minutes from Montego Bay, with Sangster International Airport just 30 minutes away.

The Spa at Tryall Club opened to guests in January 2024, and encourages a holistic approach to wellness with many customized treatments and fitness programs, including sound therapy, yoga meditation, massage treatments and guided breathing.

The Spa is inspired by the seven chakras, a Sanskrit term that means “wheel” and refers to energy centers within your body, each center point representing a different chakra. The Spa includes programs and spaces dedicated to wellness, including yoga, meditation, sound therapy, four treatment rooms, and manicure and pedicure services. The Spa uses herbs and spices from its own on-site garden for treatments and beverages, as well as local products from a wellness CBD line using plants grown on its farm.

The Tryall Club offers a collection of estate villas, each privately owned, beautifully designed and situated comfortably into the island landscape. They range in size from intimate, one-bedroom retreats to 10-bedroom villas, all serviced by dedicated villa staff. The Club offers 92 villas in addition to 13 Great House villas.

There are several dining options on site, including The Beach Restaurant and Grill. The Beach Restaurant will feature both indoor and outdoor seating. Chef Kevin Betton offers a changing menu of innovative dishes, all created with fresh ingredients, including produce grown in the Tryall Club’s organic garden.

The Tryall Club also offers carefully selected, on-site locations for unique and intimate private dining, including the waterwheel, the beach gazebo and the organic garden. As for beverages, the in-house sommelier can help choose wines to accompany meals, or a private bar can be set up with your own personal bartender.

In the 19th century, the area was a small sugar plantation, but since most of the terrain is very hilly, it was not the best topography for growing sugar, and the land also had too many pimento and coconut palms. Today, guests can see hundreds of pimento trees still scattered around the property. The resort’s Great House was built in 1834 as a Georgian Manor by former owners and has been renovated and modernized many times since then, including being converted in 1935 to a hotel with 24 guest rooms, running water and electric lights in every room.

There is no lack of history and traditions at The Tryall Club. The Great House is the heart of the resort and serves complimentary afternoon tea on the veranda and terrace every afternoon at 4 p.m, an established ritual since the 1930s.

The property’s 18-hole championship golf course, overlooking the Caribbean in Montego Bay, was designed in 1958 by Ralph Plummer, a noted golf course designer. The course offers a challenging 6,772 yards of undulating terrain, with strategically placed bunkers, rolling fairways and some definitely demanding greens. It is one of the Caribbean’s most well-known golf courses. Tennis has been a popular activity at the Club since 1959, and the property now offers nine Agile Turf and Nova Cushion courts and experienced pros. Guests are required to wear predominantly white apparel, and complimentary access to the courts and equipment rentals is available. There are also four pickleball courts.
