Massive Los Angeles Art Destination Celebrating Black Los Angeles Opening February 2024

In a few months, Los Angeles will be home to a new public art attraction celebrating the largest Black community west of the Mississippi. Destination Crenshaw opens in the heart of Black Los Angeles February 2024, bringing new community gathering spaces and sculptures and murals to the city.

The space, designed by Studio-MLA, will flank the new LA Metro K Line across 1.3 miles and will feature storytelling exhibits and augmented reality by Gallagher & Associates. Destination Crenshaw will mark the largest commissioning project ever undertaken for Black artists, with special attractions including the 787-foot -ling Crenshaw Wall. Sculptures by world-renowned artists like Maren Hassinger, Artis Lane and Kehinde Wiley will also grace the space. Other commissioned artists include Charles Dickson, Melvin Edwards, Anthony “Toons One” Martin, The RTN Crew, Alison Saar, Gerard Basil Stripling and Brenna Youngblood.

Destination Crenshaw, currently under construction in South Los Angeles, seeks to also improve infrastructure and make direct investments in small businesses along Crenshaw Boulevard, as well as plant more than 100 trees and install works of art telling the story of Black Los Angeles.
