In a city already renowned for over-the-top and classic afternoon tea experiences, narrowing down where to actually enjoy this tradition becomes the hardest part of it all. This season, treat yourself to one of these three fabulous and luxurious afternoon tea experiences in London.

A Pre-Show Experience at The Londoner
Within this elegant, 5-star hotel in Leicester Square lies The Stage, the perfect pre-theater spot for an afternoon tea experience. Here, you can enjoy all the best of British High Tea favorites with the Champagne Afternoon Tea menu, with desserts by Executive Pastry Chef Sarah Hammond. Pianists and vocalists accompany the experience, in which diners enjoy both Champagne and tea. Highlight food items include lemon-roasted Norfolk chicken sandwich and baby cucumber sandwich, as well as Banoffee pie sandwich and hazelnut dacquoise.

Floral Afternoon Tea at The Carlton Tower Jumeirah
Inspired by British gardens and designed by leading pastry chef Jessica Preálpato, this afternoon tea, aptly named A Tribute to Nature, celebrates the best ingredients in England. To start, indulge in savory sandwiches like a lobster roll with crème fraiche, apple celery and chili, and a tomato tarte aux fine. For dessert, Chef Preálpato wows with items like the raspberry tart with anise seed and watercress; cherry and black olive lunette; and strawberry “tarte fine” and crème fraiche. Even the scones offer unique flavors, such as dried hibiscus flower scones with raspberry and tarragon, or Colombian coffee scones served with coffee crémieux.

Go Back to the Regency Era at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane
As the only West End theater serving afternoon tea, diners are promised the ultimate afternoon tea experience. Even better? The Lane recently launched a brand-new menu for its Regency Afternoon Tea, served on custom china featuring mythical characters within the restored Grand Saloon. Dine on coronation chicken pie, smoked salmon crumpets, and feta and carrot madeleines. Desserts, crafted by Lily Vanilli, include vanilla cake with buttercream, passionfruit and a handmade chocolate cupid; mini sticky toffee pudding; and a strawberry ice cream sandwich with marshmallow, strawberry ham, brown sugar biscuit and dark chocolate. The Regency Afternoon Tea even offers a separate gluten-free and vegan menu.

May 28, 2025Williamsburg Inn Review
You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.
