Gloucestershire’s award-winning wedding venue Elmore Court expands its presence with plans to open six unique treehouses in spring 2023. With 2023 marking the 10th anniversary of Elmore Court, the new treehouses allow guests to extend their stay with an overnight experience in the sustainably built treehouses, located in the estate’s woodlands and a stone’s throw from the River Severn.

Now, visitors who want to experience Elmore Court beyond attending a private function can enjoy the flora and fauna native to the region. Set to operate as a sophisticated, self-service holiday rental, the treehouses run separately to the wedding business, with their own entrance and driveway.

Access to each treehouse is completely private, accessible by its own boardwalk, complete with a wraparound deck to enjoy the landscape. British cedar cladding with corrugated roofs, cork flooring and poplar ply walls serve as the design of the treehouses, with additional features like electric car charging ports for each cabin.

The treehouses’ designs maximize air tightness, the highly insulated accommodations including an outdoor, state-of-the-art kitchen; modern brazier with wood store; seated decking; and an outdoor bath. Within the treehouse, guests can enjoy super-king-sized spindle beds and a fully stocked bathroom with shower. Materials like wood, metal and glass complement a natural color palette, with Scandinavian design at the forefront of the treehouses’ aesthetic.

The treehouses can accommodate up to four guests, and the outdoor kitchen allows for self-catering, with Elmore offering a range of food and drink items that can be pre-ordered, with items like breakfast hampers, gourmet-ready meals and beverages for all occasions. One of the treehouses is stair-free and wheelchair-accessible.

Elmore estate’s history goes back nearly 750 years, with current owner, Anselm Guise, inheriting the property from his uncle in 2007. Guise hopes the estate can continue to function both as a space for visitors to enjoy and for wildlife to flourish. Keeping sustainability in mind, the estate set aside 250 of its 1,000 acres to rewilding, allowing nature to take over. On the rest of the estate, guests can enjoy the walled gardens or swim, relax in a sauna and practice yoga at nearby Rewild Swim Club.

Elmore Court plans to launch reservations for stays at the treehouses in mid-December.

Now’s the Time to See Giza, the Nile and Beyond

All archaeology-obsessed eyes turned hopefully toward Egypt earlier this year when the highly anticipated Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo finally began welcoming visitors after construction delays, funding roadblocks and political upheaval in the region (among other factors) conspired to keep things delayed for many long years. The museum’s cherry on the top is slated to open this summer, with the July opening of the museum’s 20-plus-years-in-the-making Tutankhamen galleries and accompanying cache of some 5,000 artifacts and treasures from the boy king’s tomb.
