Fall is right around the corner, meaning it’s time to start planning your fall escape. From the colorful trees of Boston to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, New England’s vibrant autumn landscapes draw travelers. The season is so popular in the region, hotels around New England have shared their “locals” tips for some of the best spots to experience fall at its best.
Foliage Bathing in Massachusetts’ Pioneer Valley
The college town of Amherst offers direct access to a variety of trails for travelers and locals alike to explore and experience fall colors, including the Norwottuck Rail Trail and conservation land trail Amethyst Brook. “There’s not place that combines natural beauty and small-town charm quite like this region in fall, it’s magical here,” said Brian Pearson, owner, Adventure East. Pearson’s favorite fall activities include leading guided hikes through Mount Holyoke Range and forest bathing experiences in the quiet woodlands just outside town. Stay at Inn on Boltwood and book the new Adventures Inn Amherst, offering forest bathing experiences and guided bike adventures, available through October.
Leaf-Peeping in Boston
The Beacon Hill Hotel in Boston offers the best views of the city’s fall colors. The hotel’s team suggests going leaf peeping in historic Mount Auburn Cemetery, Arnold Arboretum, Charles River Esplanade and Rose Kennedy Greenway. Guests who stay at the hotel and book the Beacon Hill Experience can also enjoy a $50 restaurant credit per day.
Fall Fun at The Glen House
Fall fun awaits at The Glen House. “For seasoned hikers, Glen Boulder trail offers some of the best views in the region, and out-and-back Glen Ellis Falls isn’t one to miss and just three-miles from The Glen House. But really, you don’t have to go far for the best seasonal hikes here with the 28-miles of trails with have as part of the Great Glen Trails network right in our backyard,” said Graciela Page, director of Sales & Marketing, The Glen House. Visitors can book the All Adventure offer for activities like a foliage-filled kayak experience, or the Fall in Love deal, which comes with a cozy blanket, two welcome cocktails and a delicious treat from Zeb’s to enjoy by the firepit.
Autumn Colors in Maine
Although Acadia might be the first place you’d think to go for leaf peeping, there are plenty of other destinations in Maine with just as vibrant of colors. Head to Orono to experience the Hirundo Nature Preserve; Jeremiah Colburn Natural Area; Caribou Bog Conservation Area; and DeMerritt Forest, next to Hotel Ursa. Heather Assi Antonin, general manager, Hotel Ursa suggested, “When mapping out your route, plan a day trip to Millinocket and build your own adventure with New England Outdoor Center. Each season brings its own magic, autumn’s vibrant colors shine against Mount Katahdin’s majestic silhouette. A hiker’s dream, the town is best known as being the ‘gateway to Mount Katahdin’ – named one of the World’s Best Summit Hikes by National Geographic, and is the northern terminus to the Appalachian Trail.”
Long Foliage Seasons
Newport, Rhode Island’s, peak foliage season typically falls between October and November, making it the perfect destination for travelers looking to catch the fun fall colors later in the season. Catch the changing colors along Cliff Walk, see the beautiful gardens of The Newport Mansions or wander around Fort Adams State Park for the ultimate late-season coloring. The Brenton Hotel is the perfect homebase for travelers to experience it all. Bring your furry best friend along and book the Morning Pup Crawl offer for a hand-painted watercolor dog walk map of Newport, breakfast from a special menu, noon check-out and a waived pet fee.

Dec 8, 2025Peru’s New Airport Plans to Welcome More Travelers to Cusco and Beyond
As of now, travelers visiting Cusco and Peru’s Sacred Valley typically fly in and out of Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, but that’s all about to change. In late 2026 the new Chinchero International Airport is slated to open and replace the existing Cusco airport (CUZ). Currently, international travelers typically fly into Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport and then connect to CUZ, but once Chinchero opens, it will offer more direct flights to Cusco and the Sacred Valley. The new airport, not yet assigned an IATA code, will be eight times larger than the existing airport, with the intent to increase flight capacity and provide an easier way to visit the popular destination.
