Denver International Airport’s newest art exhibit, Coloradotude by local artist Maeve Eichelberger, is on display in the airport’s Terminal Gallery (Level 5 West in Jeppesen Terminal) through April. The exhibit coincides with Month of Photography Denver.
The exhibit features photography printed on various sizes and shapes of Plexiglas, creating multi-dimensional pieces. The artwork represents the “Colorado attitude” by focusing on activities popular in the region’s mountains, plains and urban settings.
Eichelberger often uses fragmented images and makes them into an integrated whole with Plexiglas, creating a multi-layered experience, demonstrating the significance of observing life sequentially and simultaneously. Eichelberger feels it is important to combine images and ideas that might be related and then make them communicate in a new environment. She is inspired by patterns, line and form in man-made structures and nature.

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
