In celebration of the Discovery Channel’s 30th annual Shark Week, Southwest Airlines rolls out a fresh coat of paint for five aircraft this summer.
Each aircraft is painted with a different shark showcased on Shark Week. The great white and hammerhead shark planes took off from the airline’s hub in Dallas (DAL). The tiger shark launched from Chicago (MDW). The bull shark flew from Houston (HOU), and the mako shark took off from Phoenix (PHX). The fleet took to the skies July 9.
“Entering our fifth consecutive year of partnership with the Discovery Channel, we are thrilled to celebrate Shark Week’s 30th anniversary in an even bigger way by launching an entire fleet of Shark Week aircraft and premiering a Shark Week episode onboard our flights, letting our Customers have the first view of Shark Week content,” said Brandy King, director of external communications, Southwest.
The fleet will be airborne until Aug. 31, to coincide with the July 22 beginning of Shark Week on television.
