Longing to improve your photography skills — or just need a good reason to head for a tropical beach? Take care of both from Sept. 14–19, when internationally acclaimed photographer Joe McNally and photo book author Rafael Concepcion host a weeklong workshop on the island of St. Lucia. Sessions take place at Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet resorts, and will cover topics including understanding the language of light, effective use of small flash equipment, framing pictures and portraits, and how to travel with a minimum of camera gear.
The workshop kicks off with a session on establishing objectives and a review of participant’s portfolios. As the week of classes draws to a conclusion, McNally and Concepcion will critique the work of workshop members, review techniques, discuss business strategies and head to the beach for a “flambo” sunset shoot with fires, models and flash lighting with gels. Available only to guests at Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet. Workshop tuition is $1,812.45, which includes processing fees. Accommodations and transportation are not included.
