Snorkelers and divers, prepare to celebrate. If you enjoy an eco-adventure, Turks & Caicos Islands is a prime destination. The islands offer a plethora of options for you to explore the beautiful turquoise waters.
The possibilities are endless, with many private vendors around the islands offering diving and snorkeling tours as well as private dive instructors. Providenciales, or Provo, one of the main tourist islands in Turks & Caicos, is one of the best spots to find the most beautiful beaches and aquatic life. The Bight Reef is a popular snorkeling site and great for beginners. The reef is clearly marked and starts off the beach, allowing you to see many sea creatures such as fish, turtles, stingrays and maybe even a barracuda.
Another area suitable for beginner snorkelers is Smith’s Reef, although the sea life strikes great interest to any snorkeler level. Snorkeling at this reef, you may be able to see small sea animals and lobsters, but at night squid, large sea snails and the occasional octopus may come out to play. Northwest Point and Malcolm’s Road Beach are two remote spots for the more experienced snorkeler. While Provo is an excellent spot for snorkeling, it is just as good for diving, with clean, clear and temperate waters and rich marine life. Other popular diving spots include Grace Bay, Northwest Point, Pine Cay West Caicos and French Cay.
The islands are known for miles of barrier reefs and walls, perfect for a diver’s exploration. If you’re in need of gear, most resorts along Grace Bay offer complimentary equipment, or you can rent/buy from most dive shops on the island. The island provides voyagers with many excellent dive and snorkeling operators. Grab your gear and prepare for an adventure.
