Two weekends ago, I attended the Midtown Village Fall Festival in Philadelphia. The event took place on 13^th Street between Chestnut and Locust streets from noon until 8 p.m. We arrived around 2 p.m. so we could browse the shopping, food and drink stations and live entertainment before too many festival-goers crowded the streets. Hungry, we dove right into a plate of spicy chicken drums from IndeBlue and a round of beers. Next, we stopped by the Marabella Meatball Co. stand to sample their namesake dish. It was my favorite bite of the day. After another round of beers, my boyfriend and I split the 50/50 sandwich from Jake’s Sandwich Board. The sandwich was comprised of half pork, half bacon, sharp provolone cheese and sriracha spread on a sesame seed roll. I was too full to enjoy a budino pop from Barbuzzo, though I was tempted. Along the way we stopped at the many artisan and retailer stands, browsing the items for sale and listening to live music performed at various stages set up throughout the event space. Between the delicious food and drinks, fun atmosphere and good company, it was the perfect way to ring in the season.
