Forget about picking up a last-minute gift on the flight home — at least if you’re flying American Airlines. The carrier suspended the in-flight sale of duty-free merchandise last week and is in the process of removing merchandise, advertising and catalogues.
The link on the airline’s website to information about duty-free shopping simply states: Duty free shopping is no longer available on American flights. There is no indication US Airways will follow suit.
Delta Air Lines ceased its in-flight duty-free operation last year. Both American and Delta cited vendor disputes as the reason for the change.
