Following the devastating wildfires in California last month, wineries and businesses in the region are open and welcoming visitors — including some of the region’s most famous wineries like Robert Mondavi, Beringer, Sterling and Domaine Chandon.
Of the more than 400 wineries in the region, only four temporarily closed due to fire damage, and no hotels in Napa County were affected — on the contrary, there are several new hotels, renovations and exciting events to report.
In October the Valley’s newest hotel, the Archer, opened in thriving Downtown Napa. Tucked between more than 40 shops and restaurants on First Street, the hotel features a Charlie Parker steakhouse and panoramic views of the Valley from the rooftop bar.
Vintage Inn and Hotel Villagio unveiled a $45 million renovation, including modern farmhouse-inspired interiors, refreshed guestrooms and a reimagined 16,000-square-foot outdoor space.
Rancho Caymus Inn reopened in July following a two-year, multimillion-dollar renovation. The historic hacienda-style property features updated accommodations, furnishings and a new pool and spa.
The family behind Hall Wines recently unveiled a redesign of Senza, a 1870s Parker Mansion. The Victorian-style home offers eight guestrooms, all with vineyard views. The property is also home to an impressive collection of contemporary art, including works from Dennis Oppenheim.
This season also marks an exciting time for the Downtown Napa arts scene, currently home to more than 40 arts and culture institutions and 70 wineries housing a total of more than 10,000 works. The first culinary museum featuring the 2,000-piece personal cookware collection of Williams-Sonoma founder Chuck Williams will open at the CIA at Copia this fall, and the nearby Rail Arts District will introduce a series of murals in 2018, including mosaics made using pieces of rubble from the 2015 earthquake.
