India’s travellers are looking for destinations to beat the heat, both at home and abroad. According to a survey from Wego.com, interest is particularly strong for Mussoorie, Mount Abu, Dalhousie, Dharamshala and Gulmar. Those living in Rajasthan, India’s hottest state, are especially targeting Mount Abu as a potential vacation destination, as searches for the spot increased by 48 per cent over last year. “Some of this country’s favourite summer retreats experience almost chilly temperatures of around 10–15 degrees in the lush hill stations. It appears that more Indians are heading for the hills this summer, with searches on Wego for some of the more mountainous destinations surging in popularity by up to 100 per cent, compared to 2015,” said Ashwin Jayasankar, general manager, Wego India. In regard to international destinations, London and Paris are top cities for a cooler getaway, as is most of Europe, offering an abundance of luxury hotels. Other Southeast Asia destinations receiving attention are Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. However, the top international spot overall remains Dubai, regardless of the heat.
