According to data from the International Air Transport Association, the number of international air passengers flying in premium cabins around the world in January increased by a “weak” 2.6 percent year over year. The small growth reflects a slow response to gradual slowdown in improvements in business confidence throughout the second half of 2014, with deteriorating economic conditions in the Eurozone and China. The largest percentage of growth occurred in longer-haul markets, with an increase of 12.3 percent reported on Middle East–Far East routes in January, followed by Mid-Atlantic, with 11 percent, and Europe–Middle East routes, with 10.2 percent. International economy traffic was up 3.8 percent year over year in January.
