Leave it to Virgin Group founder and jack-of-all-trades Richard Branson to reinvent the wheel … and the many ways to travel the world in cutting-edge style. This summer, he splices together the concepts of “working from home” and “digital nomad lifestyle” to create a luxury seafaring adventure with the Scarlet Summer Season Pass. During the Work From Helm month at sea, loyal Virgin Voyages passengers (a.k.a. Sailors) can hit the decks of Scarlet Lady for a month-long adventure on the Mediterranean without missing a meeting, proposal submission or check-in with his or her colleagues. And the Zoom call backgrounds can’t be beat!
Between June and September 2024, passengers get to choose their four-week adventure and cruise like a rock star when not setting foot in towns like Cannes, Civitavecchia (Rome), Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Ajaccio (Corsica) and others. Along with visiting nine jet-set caliber destinations across Spain, Italy and France, those who book the four-week season pass will gain access to a dedicated concierge to help plan their month-long adventure. Whether it’s securing a reservation to the only Korean BBQ at sea or booking a daytrip to explore the picturesque UNESCO World Heritage site of Cinque Terre, Sailors have Red Hot support throughout the entire journey.
As Branson acolytes would expect, the captain has a fascinating story behind his latest creation. “I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to do my work from anywhere,” he said. “When I started Virgin, I was actually working out of a houseboat. I’ve never thought of work and play as two different things, it’s all just living. We want to give Sailors that same opportunity, so we came up with this idea to have them travel the world while working aboard our beautiful ships. Though this sounds like a lot more fun than my houseboat!”
The Scarlet Summer Season Pass endeavor is shaped by the Branson persona itself, having the luxury to take care of business with the fastest WiFi at sea while having fun, adventure and enlightening travel discoveries at one’s feet. The ship is newly equipped with integrated SES Cruise mPOWERED + Starlink PRO, offering unmatched connectivity of up to 1.5 Gbps per ship. WiFi is complimentary for all Sailors (and crew) as are gratuities, group fitness classes like zen-inducing yoga and high-energy HIIT or spin classes, soft drinks, coffee and tea, and delicious Michelin-inspired food from more than 20 eateries.
The Scarlet Summer Season Pass for two starts at $9,990 for two. They tie together four back-to-back voyages and accommodations in a Central Sea Terrace in a prime location on the ship. Rock star-ready cabins feature mood lighting; high-tech tablets to control the blinds, AC and television; rainfall showers; and Virgin Voyages’ signature red hammock on the outdoor balcony.

Sep 6, 2024Escape to Tahiti for a Captivating Island-Hopping Cruise
The 118 islands of French Polynesia reveal themselves layer by fascinating layer, with the spirit of mana (vital force) linking them all the way from Tahiti to the remote reaches of the Marquesas. This is part of the world best savored on a journey that dives as deep into culture as natural beauty, both above and below the water’s surface. A cruise makes it easy to cover a lot of ground while unpacking just once (and sneaking in some work done in comfort, too, during at-sea days). And cruising offers particular appeal within this semi-autonomous French territory sprawling across nearly 2 million square miles of ocean and covering five archipelagos.

Once an isolated outpost, the Dominican Republic now sits at a global crossroads, easily accessible from North and South America and from Europe. Due to its strategic geographical location in the heart of the Caribbean — occupying two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola, with Haiti taking up the westernmost third — it serves as a vital hub for trade and commerce with the rest of the world.

Facing the vast St. Stephen’s Green in the heart of Dublin sits the iconic and historic The Shelbourne. Few hotels master the perfect blend of history and luxury, but The Shelbourne gets it right. The site of the signing of the Irish Constitution in 1922 granting the Republic of Ireland its freedom from England, The Shelbourne has hosted its fair share of notable figures, from Michael Collins to Princess Grace Kelly to John Ford, the latter of which was the name of my suite.
