Last week, United Airlines took another step to further cement its place as one of the most environmentally conscious airlines.
The investment will help the growth and development of technology to facilitate sustainable aviation fuel. Earlier this year, United agreed to purchase up to 10 million gallons of sustainable fuel over the next two years.
“We aspire to be the airline leading the revolution to fight climate change, and this new initiative will further empower us to reduce our impact on the environment and fly towards a more sustainable future,” said Scott Kirby, president, United Airlines.
In the past, United achieved a number of benchmarks looking to reduce its carbon footprint and that of the travel industry as a whole. United replaced ground equipment with electrically powered versions, invested in sustainable fuel and more.
