The Eliza Jane, an Unbound Collection by Hyatt property, debuted in New Orleans last month, two blocks from the French Quarter.

The 196-guestroom property is within nine combined historic warehouses that surround a 2,000-square-foot interior courtyard. The design draws inspiration from several of the buildings’ original occupants, including the Peychaud Bitters factory and the Gulf Baking Soda Company. The hotel is named after the publisher of The Daily Picayune. She was the first female publisher of a major metropolitan newspaper in the late 19th century.

“New Orleans is one of the most exciting places in the country, and we are thrilled to bring a fresh take on the city’s hospitality scene with the opening of The Eliza Jane,” said Travis Tague, general manager. “The property fully embraces our city’s spirit, and we look forward to complementing that by offering personalized and genuine New Orleans experiences to our guests.”

The guestrooms include 50 suites and 12 signature suites, all featuring rich colors, leather headboards, accent furniture and brass and walnut accents. Many still boast original brick walls and ceiling beams. Bathrooms are minimalistic, with white subway tiles and either teal vanities or Carrera stone. Suites have full wet rooms with freestanding tubs.

The interior courtyard also includes original brick walls, combined with abundant foliage and design inspired by Spanish architecture. It connects the restaurant and hotel and offers seating. It opens in June.

Dining options are the signature restaurant, Couvant, and The Press Room, a living room-inspired lounge. The former is within the original bitters factory and combines industrial modernism with classic New Orleans and French touches. The latter features an antique collection, a marble fireplace and custom brass light fixtures.
