There’s now a 512-room hotel at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, in a terminal formerly used by Trans World Airlines from the 1960s, until 2001.

The aptly named TWA Hotel includes a cocktail bar in a Lockheed Constellation, Connie; another bar in the retro, red-carpeted lounge; a Departures Hall with takeaway food options; flight tube corridors leading to JetBlue’s Terminal 5; a shop selling TWA memorabilia; and a museum.

There’s also a rooftop infinity pool and observation deck with a bar — views extend over JFK’s runway 4.

The hotel also has a Shinola watch bar, a leather goods store, Warby Parker Pencil Room with custom postcards and pencils, and a Phaidon and Herman Miller Reading Room. Dining options include a 200-seat, full-service restaurant that operates all day. Other amenities include a gym, event space and a ballroom. It all combines to create an experience highly anticipated by airline enthusiasts.

The hotel offers Blade helicopter transport into Manhattan.

The building was listed on the National and New York State Registers of Historic Places in 2005. It’s widely touted as a testament to the Jet Age. Construction on the building to transform it into a hotel began in late 2016.
