Turkish Airlines is now the first carrier to use a wireless in-flight entertainment system that allows passengers to connect to the in-flight entertainment system via personal electronic devices, regardless of the presence of seat-back screens. The product rolls out to the airline’s 44 narrow-body aircraft first and increases the proportion of the airline’s fleet with in-flight entertainment systems to 95 percent.
To use the wireless in-flight entertainment system, passengers download the WiFi entertainment application on a mobile device before boarding. The system is also accessible via laptop using Google Chrome.
The in-flight entertainment system offers more than 250 movies; 700 television shows; 2,000 music albums; and 19,000 songs.
“We are proud to be the first users of this groundbreaking ‘Wireless In-Flight Entertainment System’ and believe that this is a very important step for the development of Turkish Civil Aviation,” stated M. Ilker Ayci, chairman of the board and executive committee, Turkish Airlines. “We continuously strive to make our passengers’ entire journey more enjoyable with our passenger satisfaction focused approach, and are pleased to increase the availability of in-flight entertainment system in our fleet to 95% with this launch. Passengers will be able to connect to a Wi-Fi network on their personal electronic devices and view media content specifically designed for this system.”
