On June 11, Turkish Airlines expanded its U.S. network with a new route to and from Denver International Airport. The new flight marks the airline’s 14th destination in the United States. As of June 11, Turkish Airlines schedules three flights a week to Denver, its 347th destination in 130 countries. From July 9, frequency increases to four flights a week.
“We are delighted to add a new route to our expanding flight network. We began our operations to the Americas on August 26, 1988, with flights to New York via Brussels, and 6 years later, on July 16, 1994, we began direct flights to New York,” said Ahmet Bolat, chairman of the board and executive committee, Turkish Airlines. “Today, we are proud to fly directly to 14 destinations in the United States, including Denver. This new route will offer our passengers the opportunity to discover the historical and cultural richness of Istanbul and our country.”
The flight operates between Istanbul Airport (IST) and Denver for travel dates through July 20. Through July 5, flights depart Denver at 7:35 p.m. and arrive in Istanbul the following day at 4:25 p.m. From July 9 through Oct. 25, flights depart Denver and arrive in Istanbul at the same times, with increased frequency. The new flight means Turkish Airlines will operate 151 flights per week into the United States during the peak summer season. In May alone, Turkish Airlines carried 7.2 million passengers.
In addition to this new route, Turkish Airlines revealed it’s considering even more routes to the United States. Bolat shared certain potential destinations, seeking to grow the airline’s network to 18 U.S. gateways. These airports include Charlotte (CLT), Orlando (MCO), Philadelphia (PHL) and Minneapolis St. Paul (MSP).
Three years ago, Turkish Airlines debuted new flights to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Newark (EWR). In 2022, the airline launched non-stop flights to Seattle (SEA) and, in late 2023, to Detroit (DTW).
On top of these new destinations and flights, Turkish Airlines further expands its network and global presence with plans to nearly double its fleet to around 810 aircraft by 2033. The airline has already ordered 75 Airbus A350 widebody jets and might also order the Boeing 777x, still pending certification.
The airline also intends to use its new aircraft to increase service to and from Africa and Asia. Turkish Airlines hopes to add about 50 new destinations with its growing fleet.
